Thursday of the Second Week of Lent

My dear encountered couple:

There always seems to be one more proof that is required. The Son of God became man, performed numberless miracles to prove who he was, and he died for us. He even did what this selfish rich man who went to hell asked Abraham to do for his brothers. He rose from the dead and appeared to people. But how many still do not believe?

“Father Abraham, if someone would go to my brothers from the dead, then they would repent of their sins.” Abraham knew better, and so did Jesus. “If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets,” replied Abraham to the rich man, “they will not be convinced even if one should rise from the dead.”

How so very true!

What more can God do than he has already done. He has become visible, he has become one of us, he lived with us, devoted his life to saving us, and then gave his life so that we don’t lose ours in hell with that selfish and foolish rich man. Still many people say, “If God would appear to me and save me from all this pain and suffering, then I would believe.”

You and I don’t need any proof of God’s existence and love, do we? When life gets hard, when sickness comes, when accidents happen, when everything we’ve planned and worked for seems to end up amounting to nothing or very little, we still believe with unshakable faith that God loves us. That we always have him with us, that we are the richest and luckiest people in the world. I do hope you believe that.

Never let anybody or anything shake your faith.
