LIFE WITH GOD IS AGELESS

Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

My dear encountered couples:

I wonder if Mary feels old. Today is the Blessed Virgin Mary’s birthday. How old is she? Don’t ask. Age is not a nice thing to ask a lady. But if she were asked, what would Mary answer? “Oh, about two thousand years or so, but I really feel like I’m still a teenager.” Life with God is ageless. No matter what the years say, when we live with faith and trust in God, and of course with love, the fountain of youth never stops bubbling up within us.

The person who always has the welcome mat out for the Holy Spirit will stay young forever. There is maturing but no aging. There is growing up but not growing old. Mary lived in the Spirit and love of God, she maintained the desire to do his will before any of her whims. Though Mary is into her second millennium in earth years, today is the first day of the rest of her life in heaven.

Time is standing still for Mary and every day for her is like a surprise birthday party. All who love her are gathered around her and gifts galore are being presented to her without letup. What more could we do to make Mary’s birthday better? Not much. Just live honestly, seek the will of God, and don’t ask her old she is.

Happy Birthday, Mary! Blessed are you among women!
