PEOPLE WHO CRITICIZE THE GOOD OF OTHERS NEED HELP!

Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent

My dear encountered couples:

Jesus had just done a wonderful thing. He had just called Lazarus back to life and filled the hearts of Martha and Mary with the utmost of joy. We would think everyone who saw it happen would be more than happy for them and grateful to Jesus. Some were, some weren’t. This is what the apostle John wrote for us.

“Many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, put their faith in him. Some others, however, went to the Pharisees and reported what Jesus had done. The result was that the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin. ‘What are we to do,’ they said, ‘with this man performing all sorts of signs?'... From that day onward there was a plan afoot to kill him.”

The moral of the story:

  • No matter how much good you do, you are never guaranteed the applause of everyone. Therefore, seek only the applause of God.

  • There is something obviously wrong with people who criticize the good, loving actions of others. They need help.

We have only one week left to Lent. If there is anything about us that needs to be changed, this is the time for a crash program. Surrender any defects you see in yourself to Christ and let them be nailed to the cross with him on Good Friday. Then leave them there - and become a NEW YOU on Easter Sunday morning.
